What words can we use to express the Coronavirus pandemic that haven't already been said? This is most definitely un-chartered territory. Like everyone else, we're doing our best to navigate these waters.
Governor Ron DeSantis' "safer-at-home" order (effective 12:01 am, Friday, 4/3/20) states Floridians must stay at home for the next 30 days and only leave their homes for essential services or activities.
An essential service has many definitions outlined here, but the one that's most pertinent to The Screen Doctor is listed under Public Works and Infrastructure Support Services on page 10. It says:
Workers such as plumbers, electricians, exterminators, builders, contractors, HVAC Technicians, landscapers, and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences, businesses and buildings such as hospitals, senior living facilities, any temporary construction required to support COVID-19 response.
As a contractor (license CBC1252537), we believe providing hurricane shutters to protect our customers from violent storms, is an essential service. We also believe providing screens to protect our customers from pests (and the allergic reactions they may bring), is essential.
We realize not everyone will agree with us. Please understand we are not trying to be arrogant, disrespectful, or disregard authority. We are not looking for "loopholes" and we certainly are not trying to put anyone at risk.
As our customer, it's important to us that you feel safe knowing that we are working appropriately and NOT putting you, our community, or our employees at risk unnecessarily or carelessly. We are following the CDC’s guidelines for social distancing.
We are not entering homes or condos at this time and all work we are conducting will be outside only. Any employee of ours who wishes to heed the warning of the Safer-at-Home Executive Order presented by Governor DeSantis may do so without fear of losing his or her job. However, we will continue to operate normally and safely until told otherwise.
